Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"
A simple definition of sin is disobedience to God. The disobedience of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden made them sinners. They did not steal, murder, or commit a horrendous crime. They took of the fruit God had commanded them not to take.
Because of this, sin has passed upon all men. All that have breathed a breath of air on this earth are sinners. Your sin nature denies you of the approval of God, denies you of a relationship with God, and denies you of eternal life in Heaven.
You have disobeyed God. You are a sinner.
2. Sin's penalty is eternal death in Hell.
Romans 6:23, "For the wages of sin is death..."
Just as you work a job and are paid for your labor, so too will there be a wage or payment for your sin. God is longsuffering and He is not willing that any should perish. He is patient, waiting for you to make things right between you and Him. He is longsuffering, but judgment is sure. You will have to pay a price for your sin. Ezekiel 18:4, "...the soul that sinneth, it shall die."
The payment for your sin is eternal death in Hell. Hell is a place of torment, darkness, unleashed wickedness, and burning. It is the just payment for your sins. Revelation 20:15, "And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire."
The penalty for your sin is eternal death in Hell.
3. Jesus Christ died to pay sin's penalty.
Romans 5:8, "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."
God does not want you to go to Hell. He wants you to go Heaven when you die. He showed His love to you by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to shed His blood for you on the Cross of Calvary.
His love is so great for you that He shows His love to you while you are a sinner. He knows all the sins you have committed. He knows all the bad thoughts of your mind. In the midst of all this, God still loves you and still sent His Son for you.
You have sinned against God and He still extends His love to you. The Cross of Calvary was God showing you He loves you and that He does not want you to go to Hell. He paid the price for your sin so you have the opportunity to go to Heaven when you die.
God loves you and sent Jesus to die for you.
4. Ask Jesus to be your Saviour.
Romans 10:9, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."
Jesus Christ can save you from going to Hell. Jesus died on the Cross for your sins, was buried, and rose again the third day. To be saved, you must personally accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour.
1. You are a sinner.
2. The penalty for your sin is eternal death in Hell.3. Jesus loves you and died for you.
4. You must accept Him personally.
If you would like to ask Jesus Christ to be your personal Saviour, let us help you in a word of prayer: Dear Jesus, I know I am a sinner. Please forgive me of my sin and save me from Hell. I now trust you to take me to Heaven when I die. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
